When I think of Florida designers,
I think of Lilly Pulitzer and Key West, but upon doing some research
I found that Serbin was one of the top Florida based clothing producers,
and their patterns used everything from fruits to animals.
The cut of this vintage 1970's
Serbin dress is simple - high collar, long slim sleeves, straight fit
and belted waist. It's the fabric that makes it interesting - a smooth
silky jersey printed with tigers, leopards and palm leaves.
The background of the pattern
is tan, with the leaves in mustards and browns. The animals are orange
and black and yellow, and some of them are angry.
This closes up the back with
a nylon zipper and it is not lined. The fabric is probably a nylon jersey,
as this is machine washable.
