Vintage ARP QUADRA Analog Synthesizer Keyboard + Case
Hello! First off, please read this listing in it's entirety as I will not respond to questions that are already covered here. If you're not serious please do not bid. Due to the nature of this item I'm hoping for local pickup, however I will ship within the USA lower 48 only, so please do not ask if I'll ship elsewhere. If you're in another country and have a friend in the USA have them buy it and they can ship it to you. Thank You.
Now down to business...
You're bidding on a rare classic synthesizer from the late 70's! These are getting harder to find as most have been snapped up by musicians and collectors alike for that signature ARP analog sound.
The Arp Quadra has been used by:
808 State, ELO, Tony Banks of Genesis, The Human League, Pink Floyd, New Order, Joe Zawinul of Weather Report and film-maker John Carpenter - to name a few.
I am the second owner (since 1983). It's basically sat in a case since I stopped playing it in about 1985 and on a couple of occasions since).
I checked it out and it still plays fine but there are a few things.
First, one of the slider knobs is broken (by a certain younger brother when I wasn't around!). It can still be moved but not with fingers. I've seen replacements from time to time here on eBay but never ordered one (that in no way means they'll be listed again but there is a guy in Vancouver that looks for parts machines, so maybe he sells parts? I've seen his ad on Craiglist).
Secondly some of the sliders are a bit stiff and a couple have slight static (not too bad and seems to diminish/go away with use). I'm sure this is an easy fix by someone knowledgable, I just don't want to do it, as once in a while I have bad luck in this area!
The output jacks also have a bit of static (same as plugging a guitar into an old amp) - again an easy fix.
Two screws are missing from the underside that hold the access cover to the bottom of the keys (really a none issue as it's not loose - just trying to be as accurate as possible).
There's a screw at the back of the ARP to tune it and a couple of sliders that tune the bass and lead sections to that tuning. When you match the main keyboard tuning those sliders are not centered. I'm guessing probably an adjustment to variable resistors on the inside to bring those closer to center.
Oh and the player for the original owner put duct tape on a couple spots (removed and no longer sticky but I don't want to scratch/mess up the paint trying to get the white/gray reminants off).
It was toured with and is not scratch free.
The analog sounds are amazing (that warmth that many of us miss for one thing). It's basically 4 synthesizers in 1. You could tweak it all day and get new sounds. When I powered it up I got sounds I hadn't heard before (probably being new to it for the second time).
All the LED's work fine.
There is a mod (done by original owner). There is a switch that locks settings and they put an LED in so that they could tell it was in lock mode so as not to have to look at the back while performing.
It comes with:
New Black Case - not pictured.
The Original User Manual.
A small yellow plastic thing/screwdriver to access the screw that tunes the synth (I don't know if it originally came with the keyboard - that's what was taped on the top before I got it).
The power cord (original).
If you need to know more about the ARP QUADRA you can find quite a bit of information from you know who
HERE.
Hopefully the pictures will answer some questions as well.
I've covered as much as I can think of. Please feel free to contact me for information that I may have left out and I will do my best to answer them.
I'll miss this baby but 23 years locked up in a case just doesn't seem right...
Good luck and Bid before it's too late!
