We're offering a lovely French Art Nouveau Mantel Clock. The case is a classic art nouveau form made of rich mahogany and exotic multi colored fruit wood inlays showing a typical "whip-lash S form". The clock sits on brass bunn feet. The wooden case is in excellent original condition showing minor crazing due to age. There are a few very minor abrasions about the case also due to it's age (none that are unsightly). The clock dimensions are: 10" tall X 7" at the base; the case of the clock is 5.75" wide.
The French brass drum shaped pendulum movement is a spring driven eight day time and strike of high quality. The movement is signed: the mark of a spread winged eagle over a circle with the letters of FMS
This chiming clock strikes counting the hours and the half hour on a soft gong.
The 4.25" porcelain convex dial has arabic numerals and an outer chapter ring marking the minutes. The dial is enclosed in a cast brass bezel with a hinged brass door and retaining it's original convex crystal all in excellent condition. Also of high quality is the pierced brass back door, both showing natural untouched patina for it's years.
The clock comes complete with it's original pendulum and an old key.
This clock is easily worth much more than the starting, no reserve price!
