Description
Baseball history buffs and collectors!!! We are offering very nice vintage book; THE WASHINGTON SENATORS An Informal History, by Shirley Povich. Shirley was a reporter for The Washington Post and covered over 3000 Senators games. This book was a selection of the Putnam Sport Series - The Big League Library. It was copyrighted in 1954 and we are assuming it is a first edition.
At the time of its writing, this book was the history of one of the oldest baseball teams in the United States and was printed before the team moved to Minnesota in 1960, becoming the Minnesota Twins.
This book features 16 pages of black and white photos, which include such great baseball names as Clark Griffith, Walter Jonson, Connie Mack and Babe Ruth. Other photos include United States Presidents throwing out the first pitch, individual and group players, and stadiums.
The book is in excellent condition; the spine is straight, the binding is intact, the pages are in excellent condition and very white considering the book's age. The dust jacket is in good to very good condition. It is intact, but shows wear at the corners with very small tears. There is some scraping on the front. The colors are brilliant. This book displays very well.
This wonderful book is a great piece of history and would be an excellent addition to your baseball collection!!!!
