Vintage Chair and Ottoman probably dating to forties

This is a wonderful old chair and ottoman, probably originally made in the 30’s or 40's for a spa or a beauty shop. The tag on the bottom says Helene Curtis Chrome Furniture a division of National Mineral Company. I did a little research, and I see that the National Mineral Company once existed in Chicago and made Helen Curtis beauty products. They were a large manufacturer, and then they sold to Unilever.

Anyway, this chair and ottoman still have their original upholstery, which is “leatherette” (reminds me very much of what we used to call “oilcloth”) and as the photos show, it is as worn as would be expected for something of this age.  Everything appears to be original. The chrome is in pretty good condition.  The arms of the chair are wood (painted a light green). Some of the light gauzy cloth on the bottom of the chair and ottoman needs to be replaced or reattached, and the leatherette is worn because it is old. The look is modern, with beautiful streamlined lines.  The chair and ottoman are heavy, and they seem quite sturdy.  This is a quite comfortable piece of furniture.  I have tried my best to present these accurately with this description and the photographs, so I am selling them “as is.” They have their original labels.

If you win this bid, you will pay for the shipping, so you can specify the method of shipping if you’d like. I will not charge extra for handling...you will pay only the amount that you bid plus the actual shipping charge which I have estimated at $45.
