Vintage quilts are not my area of expertise, so please ask questions offer suggestions accordingly. This is a stunning 64 1/2" X 82" twelve-square crazy quilt with an additional 4" cotton fringe. My sister-in-law, who's a world-renown rug hooker and knows a lot about vintage textiles, felt sure this was and early 20th century piece. It has a lot of cut velvet pieces and there's velveteen and tapestry. It's very heavy and boxed weighs nearly 10 lbs. Some of the pieces have almost a velvet "chenille" quality -- I don't mean bedspread-like, but in the sense that it is so deeply cut the nap stands quite high -- and there is some embellishment to the design. It's top stitched with a Y stitch. It is backed with what I think is old cotton sheeting which is more than likely not original, but certainly old. The cotton fringe was added by hand and probably at a later time. There feels like there's another inch of quilt that's been turned under the backing. It is in excellent condition with incredibly vibrant colors, probably due to the fact that this was stored away for many years, unfortunately with moth balls. The smell of camphor has dissipated somewhat since I purchased it on Saturday, but it could probably benefit from a cleaning. Please check my other listings for other great finds! Most of the items I sell come from estate/yard sales, flea markets, etc. Accordingly, they most always will show some signs of use. I try diligently to well describe each item I sell. My 11-year 100% positive feedback is a testament to that. Just as in a live auction, all sales are final, unless I have seriously misrepresented a piece. My return policy is stated. You should also be aware that my barn is open by chance or appointment and people stop by to shop. At times I'll sell a piece that's listed on eBay with no bids, so if you see something you want, don't wait until the last moment to bid because it might not be there! Please do not bid if you don't intend to buy and please ask any questions before you bid.
IMPORTANT INSURANCE INFORMATION
I insure my packages through InkFrog and you'll receive an email documenting coverage of the item, but your shipping label will not state "insured." In the unlikely event of your having to file a claim, photos of the breakage and shipping box, along with packing materials, must be provided to the insurance company to prove loss and to prove that the item was well packed -- which I assure you it will be! So contact me immediately, and don't throw anything away!

First class international cannot be insured or tracked. Priority international mail normally will cover the cost of insuring an item. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country' s customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up. Do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. I do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior.
