Vintage Drake TR-4C
New old stock, Never used.
|
CQ CQ Collectors. Here I have a brand new,
never used DRAKE TR-4C Ham Radio Transceiver. When I found this it
was in the original box under the bench of an SK. Although I would
love to keep this rig, I know it would be better in the hands of
serious Drake Collectors. My biggest dilemma was whether or not to
sell it "never used with ZERO hours" leaving the first operation
of this item to the high bidder, OR, to put it on the bench and
briefly test it. Since I was concerned about the length of time it
had been sitting unused, I opted for the later. I fired it up and
took two videos, which you can see by downloading from the links
below. One SSB and One CW. As you can tell by the CW video it was
Sweepstakes weekend and you can hear the clean crisp signals
calling CQSS. Since I didn't know it was SS weekend it brought
back memories of my clean sweeps but I'll refrain from any further
reminiscing.
I did not put a signal on the air but keyed down into a dummy load
to be sure all is fine, and I am happy to report it is. Delivered
a full 100 watts just long enough for me to dip the plate and
eyeball the meter. I had the rig on for less than 15 minutes
overall and the finals practically no time at all, just seconds..
Consider the rig new and accept my apology for depriving you of
being the first one to operate it, I only wanted to make sure
everything was ok. The rig is drop dead mint, cherry, virgin, or
any other adjective you care to use. You will not be disappointed.
Late model serial number, the rig was purchased in the mid 70's
and the original receipt is included in the pocket located in the
back of the manual, along with the warranty card, labels and
errata sheet. The box and packing material are also all original
Drake, however I will double box this item to protect the original
packaging. The auction starts at 4.99 with no reserve for your
bidding enjoyment.
A few Notes:
1. The rig can be operated as a receiver or
transceiver, do not key down unless you are familiar with this
gear and have read the manual as it is being sold as is.
2. If you are not familiar with this rig you should understand
that it does not have an internal power supply. You will also need
a speaker.
3. The bidding is open to all, but my hope is a serious Drake
Collector or Ham with knowledge of this rig will be the successful
high bidder.
4. The bidding is open to international bidders but please
understand that the item will weigh close to 30 pounds packaged
and I will only ship PRIORITY MAIL, necessary for the PAYPAL buyer
/ seller protection. So, if you are outside of the USA, consider
shipping costs. Email me for a quote.
5. Finally, I apologize for the AVI format of the videos but that
is all I had at my fingertips this morning. If you plan on viewing
the videos more than one time, please be considerate and download
the file to view on your own computer to save me the bandwidth.
Thanks to all, 73's and have fun.
