Don Francisco was a renowned high performance engine builder from the early days or Southern California Hot Rod Era. He appeared on the cover of Hot Rod Magazine (with co-builder Bill Burke) in 1949 with his belly tank touted as "The Worlds Fastest Hot Rod". He wrote his first article for Hot Rod Magazine in 1949 and joined HRM's staff in 1950. He became technical editor for HRM, Motor Trend, and Car Craft.
