This is a beautiful blue early 1930s dress fashioned from soft silk chiffon. The bodice has a ecru lace with white glass beading and rhinestones. A sophisticated and stylish formal party, evening dress.
The intricate bias cut design of the skirt molds to the hips then falls into full soft folds. The armholes are outlined with self-bias binding. The dress closes on one side with hooks and snaps. It’s lined with a blue taffeta type silk in the skirt area and a nude color chiffon for the bodice lace area. The matching belt has an elegantly designed silver toned metal buckle. There is no makers label.
The condition is very good. However I did find 2 tiny pinholes in the skirt and a small hole about 1/32“ x 1/8’ long. There are some very faint underarm stains. There are some stains on the skirt which may come out when cleaned. I didn’t notice any of the stains until I held the chiffon up to the bright sunlight. I photographed the stains over a white napkin to really show up the stains. Some of the rhinestones have darkened and 2 small areas of the beading around the neckline is missing. One side of a snap needs to be reattached. The fabric is strong, so are the seams. The seams are enclosed.
The measurements are: 34" bust, 32" waist, 39-40" hip and 53" from the shoulder top to the hem. These are actual measurements, you need to leave extra inches for movement.
Even with the above imperfections this dress is truly a great find. It’s from the depression era when being able to afford such a luxurious dress was a rare occurrence. A wonderful addition to any wearable vintage clothing addition.
