Offered in this eBay Auction:
1 Gibson Bridge for Les Paul - SG (Transition Period)
This was removed from an early 60's SG/Les Paul that I had about 35 years ago.
It is made of aluminum and the underside of the saddle is shaped to allow some
"rocker" movement for use with a Bigsby.
Notches in the "compensated" saddle are original from the factory.
Curiously these bridges sat atop the face of the guitar held in place by
string tension. There are two small pieces of sandpaper on the base to keep it from
moving around.
The base is stamped "LP" and the saddle stamped "S"
The threaded adjustment wheels move freely on their steel posts
This aluminum bridge was on the original guitar for 10 or 12 years and it has been
in storage since. It shows tarnish (the wheels especially) consistent with
it's 46 years.
IT HAS JUST OCCURRED TO ME THAT IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS BRIDGE
WAS MANUFACTURED BY BIGSBY SPECIFICALLY FOR USE WITH THEIR
TREMOLOS . . . PLEASE FEEL FREE TO WRITE IF YOU KNOW! THANKS
