One time offer - this decides whether I finish this project myself: Up for sale is this mid-'70s Les Paul Custom project. I bought the guitar a couple of years ago with plans to refinish it. The guitar started as a sunburst LPC and someone had refinished it along the way in what I refer to as "pimp gold" in around 8 layers of paint and clearcoat - nice auto body shop job! The prior refinish resulted in heavy sanding and left the binding channels shallow and distorted, especially at the cutaway horn and the top of the headstock. I used a heat gun and stripped most of the paint off and removed the old binding. In the process, I found that there were several holes added to the top for mini-toggles that had been filled with bondo and painted over. When I first heated and scraped off the paint from the headstock I could barely read the serial number and "made in the USA". After the first light sanding, they were gone forever. The serial was stamped in 101653 - making it around a '74-75 model from what I could find from the net. I've reshaped the oversanded areas and rerouted the binding channels. I've run out of energy for now and am second guessing whether to finish the project. Included is what you see in the additional pics: guitar, molded Gibson case, sufficient binding from LMI, gibson truss rod cover, control cavity covers, Gotoh bridge and tailpiece, gold jack plate, and 2mm fret dot marker stick. What's needed to complete the project: electronics, filling the toggle switch holes, final prep and finish, strings, and a helluva lot of elbow grease. Shipping will be insured via FEDEX to continental US residents only. I will not relist this, nor will I reduce the price, add or subtract parts, or end the auction early because you have a gig this weekend and you need the guitar by then. All emails that ask redundant questions already answered above will be filed with great vehemence into the flaming bowels of the ebay trash! Otherwise I'd be happy to answer any pertinent questions.

Just to add a bit about the playability of the guitar: I played it for a couple of months before stripping the finish. It has a slim neck like most of the mid-70's Gibson's have. The frets are in great shape and it played with a nice low buzz-free action. I don't have an accurate scale, but this guitar is on the light side for a LPC. I have another anniversary model that is in the 10-11lb range, so I'd estimate this is more like 9lb - not bad for a Norlin pancake body!
