The sticker on the bottom is typical of imported items from the 70's: Original Dee Bee Co Imports, Hand painted in Japan. Made of a ceramic material, glazed and looks quite nice. I'm impressed that noneof the horses' ears have been broken off. The ears are always the first things to go. Behind this facade of three horses is a slot almost an inch wide, in which you can put pens, a small notepad, etc. You could even use it to pot a very small plant. The slot is about 4" wide. On the back panel are two small holes, likely for hanging in some manner. The thing weighs about 10 ounces and measures about 8" x 5". (100)
