Vintage High Glaze Ceramic Seal Sea Lion Ceramic Figure

From my mom's collection and collected during the 1950s in San Francisco. This seal has a high glaze in brown. Looks like a Made in Japan or maybe a California Pottery type ceramic from that era. Has a hole in the nose like it might have been a pepper shaker.  No chips or cracks or crazing.  Measures 3.75 inches tall and 3.5 inches long.
