The handpainting on this vintage Imari Japanese soba choko cup is beautifully intricate and artfully executed. The colors are the traditional blues and reds with gold and green accents. The person I purchased this from thought it dated to the edo period (1820-1860), but was not sure. It measures 3.5 in. in diameter and stands 2.5 inches tall. The rim is slightly scalloped. There is a blue and white greek key pattern around the inside rim and a row of lotus leaves on the bottom border.Decorative images on the outside of bowl are accented with gold. It is unmarked on the bottom. No chips or hairlines noted. In good condition. |
