Here is your chance to own a beautiful 1987 K. Yairi YW800 Acoustic Guitar. Handsigned by Master Kazuo Yairi of the legendary Yairi family of Japanese luthiers. K. Yairi started making guitars under his own name in the early 70s after years learning and making guitars with uncle Sadao Yairi, and has long held a stellar reputation for making quality guitars. In recent years they have been successfully marketed in the US under the popular Alvarez label. At his small workshop the emphasis is on quality not quantity, and his guitars are handmade using traditional hand tools and techniques – apparently the only piece of machinery in the workshop is the saw! The timbers used in the body and for the parts are all cut from log on site – no prefab, computer-assisted factoryline type stuff that usually happens these days (even with bigname, expensive guitars!). The result of course is a instrument that is precisely and personally made – and this is obvious when you consider the finish and tone. Amazing guitar – what more can I say??! Don’t let this one slip by!

  • Perfect original playing condition, no issues. No splits of cracks, Neck is lovely and straight. Bridge and soundboard are fine. The binding and heel in excellent condition as are the fingerboard and frets. Tuners work well. Action is low and the neck is really nice to play.

  • Excellent cosmetic condition. No major dings, scratches or bruises. A few small marks as pictured.  Some very light scratching in the finish on the back.  Finish is in great condition. The headstock is in superb condition and looks great. The printed ink on label has been a bit smudged by water or something.  I’ve tried to include a photo that shows the model and year as clearly as possible.

  • Solid Spruce top. 3 piece Indian rosewoods on the back and sides. Ebony bridge and fingerboard. Neck looks like Mahogany, and I think the bridge and saddle are bone.  Abalone on the K. Yairi script and “V” on the headstock and it has the original abalone tipped bridge pins. Awesome!! Bound neck and headstock. Nice detailed fret markers and nice Abalone inlay in the binding.  Cool detailed wooden inlay backstripe. Lots of beautiful finishing touches adding class to this guitar, but it is well done and doesn’t look over ornamented.

  • Tone is superb! Wonderful volume, rich harmonics and a clean and crisp feel. In terms of tone, this guitar easily defeats anything in its price range and competes very well with guitars in the $3000+ price range and that top has been aging for over twenty years now too!

Good Luck!
