This item is a vintage lightning rod, lightning ball and weather vane.

Details about this antique, rustic, primitive, farm, farming, Americana collectible:

·         Lightning rod, lightning ball and weathervane

·         This is an original lighting rod, vane and ball. This was used on a farm in eastern Nebraska around the 1930s and has recently been on a carriage house in Lincoln, Nebraska.

·         Lightning rod pole (metal - I believe copper, but not certain - with spear point top) is hollow

·         Base is steel and has three legs (one leg slightly bent)

·         Weather vane (arrow design) has been repainted, and had the original glass replaced in the tail section with red plastic

·         Lightning ball is clear glass and does have a small chip on bottom rim and cloudiness to glass

·         74” tall (completely assembled); 18” wide at base; wind vane 18” long; glass ball 4 ¼” diameter

·         This will be shipped disassemble.

·         Condition: very good but with aging and outside wear

The reserve price for this item is $150.

Domestic Shipping Insurance

·         All items are provided with an optional shipping insurance cost and it is the responsibility of the buyer to purchase it.

·         If the buyer does not pay for the shipping insurance and the item arrives broken or is lost  then there is no refund available because the buyer has opted to assume that risk. Shipping insurance is usually $2-$8 (depending on the final price of the item).

·         Items that are breakable or high priced may receive automatic shipping insurance (at buyer’s expense) and is an additional cost to the item’s shipping amount. The buyer can opt not to pay for the automatic shipping insurance, but if the item arrives broken or is lost then there is no refund available.

Domestic Shipping Insurance Refund

·         The only refund available for damaged or lost items is for buyers who pay for shipping insurance. The refund will come via the U.S. Post Office.

·         If the buyer pays for shipping insurance and the item arrives damaged or is lost, please notify me and I will send the buyer the shipping insurance receipt. The buyer must work with their local post office to file the claim and to obtain their refund. The item should not be mailed back to me for the refund process. A refund from the post office will take 60-90 days.

International Payment and Shipping

·         ONLY PayPal payments accepted - no money orders, moneygrams, or personal checks.

·         International shipping will be more than the stated shipping cost and will always be determined after the auction has ended. International shipping is usually 3-4 times the amount of domestic shipping so be prepared to pay more than the stated domestic rate.

·         Items are provided with an optional shipping insurance cost and it is the responsibility of the buyer to purchase it. If the international buyer does not pay for shipping insurance there is no refund available if the item is lost or damaged. Shipping insurance is usually around $10-$25 (depending on final price of the item).

·         If the item arrives damaged (or is lost) and is insured, please notify me. I will then work with the U.S. post office and the buyer will work with their local country’s post office to file the appropriate reports.
