This item is a vintage lute. The body length is approximately 21", total length approximately 40". There have been some repairs to the lower portion of the face, as shown in close up. Part of scroll carving is chipped, as shown. Has five strings, missing the highest one. Mechanical pegs in working condition. Nice rounded back with two knobs, presumably for strap to attach.
The sound hole has beautifully carved designs. Inside is a label that is hard to read but looks like it says "Ed Hendegger" as maker.
Selling as shown, no reserve. Thanks!
Note: I received this message from an ebayer, I am not sure of their expertise but thought it may be of interest!
- "The instrument depicted is not a lute, which has 6-10 courses and does not use machine heads. What you have is a guitar lute, probably German and from the 1920s. It is shaped like a lute but strung and tuned like a guitar."
