WOW..this auction is for a rare clear glass, with cut design

MAGNIFYING PAPERWEIGHT

The dark center on this photo is a piece of gold paper to help show how this works. The bubble of heavy glass, magnifying, can be put over anything. The other photo shows it over some lace. Or photo,flower,jewelry, anything. How nice to be able to change it. I don't really know if they were considered paperweights, but certainly they are heavy enough to use as such. Measure 6" and have 7 points. Under the points are cut designs that have been painted in to show better. Very Victorian.
