A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.
My Father graduated from "THE PHILADELPHIA COLLEGE OF PHARMACY & SCIENCE" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1939. In the 1950's, he bought this Mortar & Pestle for my Mother because he thought she might be able to use it in her cooking for grinding herbs. She never used it. (And the funny story was that we all thought he was trying to get her to be a bit more inventive in her spicing of foods, but my Mother was a Taurus-it did not work!!! LOL!!!)
She was a good Italian cook but just kept cooking as her Mother did!!
I always kept it as a funny remembrance; but now I am downsizing and maybe an inventive cook would love to have it.
They are in very good condition with a few light marks.. Under the Bowl are the words :
"MADE IN US HSS(?) MADDOCK'S SONS CO TRENTON, NJ 1/0" "WARRANTED T.M.S. CO. ACID PROOF" There is a LOGO of an ANCHOR AND ROPE
The Bowl is 4-1/2 inches across the top; 2-1/2 inches high; and the base is 3 inches in diameter. The Grinder is 6-1/2 inches long. They weigh 1 pound 13 ounces.
I have no written proof of the type of material it is made from; but I believe it is MARBLE.
