This is a beautiful vintage English flame mahogany corner bookcase display cabinet. It has a
traditional beveled top with attractive dental molding and it features a bookcase that has 3
shelves, 2 removable, and it has an *astragal wood glazed glass door with an attractive design.
On the bottom it has a cabinet that has 2 shelves, 1 removable, and its door has a beautiful
oval flame mahogany surface. Both doors have a lock mechanism with 1 key present. This piece
may have minor age appropriate signs of wear including dents and scratches but as shown it is
overall in very good cosmetic and structural condition and it is strong and sturdy. It is a
beautiful piece that will make a lovely addition to any room.
What is astragal (wood or lead) glazing? As it pertains to later period furniture,
it is a method of securing glass to the straight, semi-circular, or shaped moldings found on
glass doors and windows of furniture. On newer reproduction furniture, the astragal molding may
set atop the glass to give the appearance of glazing where on older English furniture, it is
not uncommon for each piece of glass to be cut to shape and glazed into the molding.
