One needs decades of experience to be able to authenticate, date, appraise, and price Native American artifacts. I am listing this rug as to the facts known about it, and nothing more. It is up to the bidder to decide what this rug is worth, it's origin, and it's age. I will quickly answer any, and all questions.
My rating speaks for itself.

This rug was purchased at an estate sale in Northern Illinois. It measures at 34" x 63" . I purchased it along with depression era glass, dolls, and photo albums of car trips in the late 1920's,30's, and 40's; which , included photos of the southwest. (AZ, NM, CO, CA) It was not on the table of the sale, but on the cement floor of the garage. I knew it need to be rescued.

It is entirely wool, with no cotton warp thread. It is solid, but is in dire need of professional cleaning.
-
It is fringed, therefore it is most likely not a Navajo Rug.
-
The dyes used are earthtones, and are not colorfast, as they will rub off onto a wet Q-tip. There is a visible amount of color-bleed from some of the darker pattern areas. The pictures are very clear in order to show the color/condition ofthe rug. Colors in brown, ochre, grey-brown. black-brown, greyish white.

The only hole is smaller than a pencil, and is not a tear, but a defect in that particular portion of wool thread. Not really a hole at all. Some of the end fringe has worn in the center portions of the rug. There are no thins spot or appreciable wear on the weaving itself. Aside from the sorely needed cleaning, its is in remarkable condition.

I do not know enough to detect repairs. There are no areas that appear to be re-woven or double woven. I do know what "lazy lines" are, and do not believe there are any.

It is beautiful, and has a very strong, warm vibe. IF you know what I mean. There is a person somewhere that knows this too.
