Vintage Purple Amethyst Glass Hoopskirt Insulator ~ Whitall Tatum Co. No. 1. ~ Made in U.S.A.

The insulator is a wonderful shade of purple. The condition is overall excellent.

Size:  approximately 4" tall & 3-3/4" diameter.  Weighs over 1-1/2 lbs!

Condition:  No cracks, slight roughness on the outer bottom edge, some straw marks and slight scratches that are appropriate for material, age & use of this object.   

Insulators were utilitarian, working pieces of glass. Only now, many years after their original use, have we discovered them as objects of beauty and historical interest. When they were being made, no one was doing any quality control monitoring. If it was usable, it was just fine. Thus, the marks and bubbles were unimportant.
