Halloween Folk Art - by Jan Pierce

This hand painted Witch's carpet ball ornament is the size of a bocce ball - the type they used for indoor carpet bowling that are now popular as bowl fillers! It is made of paper mache, so it is light enough to hang on your Halloween tree. These are NOT the little 2 1/2" paper mache balls found in craft stores - they are large and impressive as tree decor or bowl fillers!  The artwork is completely original and copyrighted. Each ball is hand painted, antiqued, and then finished off with an acrylic sealer for durability. The colors are traditional Halloween colors of Orange, Black and Cream.  I draw much of my inspiration from the old 1920's & 1930's decorations -- I just LOVE vintage Halloween!

About the Artist

      Jan Pierce is a Chester County, PA artist who creates one of a kind (OOAK) folk art treasures. Hand painted lamps, trays and found objects join hand sculptured dolls, paintings and jewelry in an eclectic selection of artwork. Her traditional Halloween style continues to delight collectors of vintage and contemporary Halloween Art alike. Some of her work is inspired by images found on vintage Halloween ephemera. Some is a natural manifestation of her love for this sinister holiday.   Most of her artwork is done on functional items. Boring or outdated items that have been cast off are transformed into unique treasures that will be loved for many years to come. Because she doesn't restrict her work to canvas or paper, her items are usually one of a kind. Occasionally, as with her miniature paintings, she will make a few prints, but even these will be limited. All works are signed and dated by the artist.
