Made by Rastal in West Germany, this lidded stein commemorates the 175th aniversary of the first Octoberfest. The first Octoberfest was part of the wedding of Princess Theresa von Sachsen-Hildurghausen to Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig in 1810. The celebration evolved into an annual event and over the years, horse races, performances and beer enlivened the celebration. This stein celebrates 175 years of partying by German beer drinkers and chronicles the te event to 1985. Made of stoneware and well marked on the bottom and sides. The lid appears to be pewter and is also marked, and well fitting. Nice tight hinge and free from dents or dings.  It measures 9.25 inches high to the top of the thumblift. Free from chips or cracks, some discoloration on the hinge of the thumblift.  Please see my other listings for an eclectic mix of antiques and collectibles.

I would have to start opening bids much higher to cover the cost.  I would also have to factor in a little extra since the ebay fee on sold items would be higher ( they charge a percentage of the sale price which would now include free shipping).
