A little History of the former Dortch Stove Works Factory Building now known as the Factory:
The Factory at Franklin is a complex of 11 depression-era buildings, with a total of 250,000 square feet, which housed four different factories over its industrial lifetime.
The buildings were built for the Allen Manufacturing Company (stove manufacturers) in 1929. After Allen Manufacturing went into receivership during the Great Depression, the Dortch Stove Company (1932-1955), Magic Chef (1955-1959) and Jamison Bedding Company (1962-1991) successively occupied this site, which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Factory was renovated in 1996 by Franklin businessman Calvin LeHew as a dining, retail, and entertainment center. Today it is a hot spot for locals and visitors alike as it houses endless shopping, art galleries, fine dining and wonderful spaces to rent for events.
We are six blocks from historic downtown Franklin, and just minutes from the Cool Springs Galleria mall.
Williamson County Tennessee -- Dortch Stove Works, 230 N. Franklin Rd., Franklin, was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 13, 1997 as property number 97001438.
