Persons stamped and badged classic blue glitter seat that shows almost as good as the day it was made. Rare "Persons" badge on rear of seat just like on early antique 63 1/2 and 64 + Stingray Solo Polo. Have not seen one "Persons" rear badge by itself  listed on eBay, but that is the way the first Stingrays were badged and arrived at your local hardware store or bike shop in the 60's. And this badge alone looks almost as great as the blue glitter seat. I have seen Solo Polo seats listed with the Persons badge but the majority of those badges were either "beat up"or missing
all-together.

The bottom of the metal pan is clearly stamped " Persons Made in the U.S.A."  This was back in the day when  Persons operated out of Worcester, Ma, Connecticut and Ohio. Once Al Fritz, creator of the Stingray saw what the kids were doing to bikes on the west coast he arrived back at Schwinn headquarters to mass produce these strange beasts with 20" wheels that parents thought were "too weird" to buy while their kids had other thoughts.

Schwinn entered into contract with Persons. Each pan was dip painted and the "Persons" rear badge was individually hand riveted. Some more straight than others. It depended on the day of the week. This rivet might have been punched Monday morning. A close inspection of the seat shows excess paint that gathered and set at the seat bolt mount. That's the way it was done in the heyday.

Soon Schwinn insisted that the "Schwinn Stingray" name be the rear badge. Not being a Solo Polo, this seat measures 18" long and 5" at the widest spot and is designed for post "first generation" mid 60's to late Stingrays. Persons made a lot of seats and this could have been either "the one that got away" or was sold to another bike manufacturer.

If it was used, it was minor usage at best. Just do not see any harmful abrasions, rust or scuff marks and looks almost as if any wear, not detracting to the eye or harmful to the look, could have been due to movement of stock. I just do not know. There are plenty of pictures for you to decide.
