Vintage Solid Walnut Horse Head Letter Opener Denver CO.This Horse head letter opener has a brass emblem that says Daniels & Fisher Tower Denver Colo. and has a picture of the building in the middle. The Daniels & Fisher (D&F) Tower is a distinctive Denver, Colorado landmark. Built as part of the Daniels & Fisher department store in 1910, it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi at the time.Daniels & Fisher were later bought out by the May Company, and in the 1950s and 60s it was known as the May D&F building. When the building was demolished (ca. 1980), the tower was saved. It stands today in downtown Denver. There was a card in the box that came with the letter opener it says "HANSEN & HANSEN WATCHMAKERS AND JEWELERS DENVER, COLORADO, 1628 SEVENTEENTH ST, CLOSE TO THE UNION STATION, PHONE KEYSTONE 3012". The back of the card tells about their specialty it also says they were the "Official Watch Inspectors for Union Pacific Burlington Rock Island Santa Fe Colorado & Southern Denver & Rio Grande Denver & Salt Lake" and has a Denver Street guide on the inside of the card. I believe the card and the letter opener are related in some way. This item came from an estate of a little old lady who worked for the railroad.It is 1 3/8" x 8 5/16" x 7/16". This item is in very great condition with no signs of cracks or scratches.It was purchased at an estate sale.Please look at my other items in my store.
