Vintage Train Case Make Up Suitcase Braniff Airways Tag

I went to an auction recently in Aurora Illinois. The house was a 3,000 square foot 1800’s Victorian . I had an opportunity to chat with the niece of the former owners and she told me that the owners had no children, and had been avid collectors for years and years. The house had been packed full of wonderful antiques that had been sitting for 4 years waiting for the estate matters to be resolved. This was an incredible auction (in more ways than one, because we had a little Mid October snowfall just in time for it!) and I bought two whole loads (had to call the husband for help!) of antiques and uniques that I’ll be listing for some time… so be sure to keep checking!

Here is a cool vintage retro suitcase that has been up in the attic for decades - it needs a littlle cleaning, and it will shineshineshine!  The best part is - it has the luggage airline tag form the last time that it was used, Braniff International Airways!  Measuring 12 1/8" long, it is 9" deep and 6 1/2" tall.  The case is medium blue on the bottom with a dark blue border in the center.  The top and handle are cream colored and the metal has a brass colored finish that is worn.  No dings dents or rips - the outside of the suitcase is in pretty good shape, with some small wear spots on the front and bottom, especially under the lock.   The handle is without issues.  On the inside, the tan colored lining is peeling back, just around the edges as shown in my photos.  It also looks like there may have been a tag inside that is not longer there - as you see a rectangular brown spot on the inside of the lid (where I'm assuming it was).  I do not have a key, nor do I know the maker.  Don't you wish it could talk!?!

Also, many of my items come from local rural estate sales and auctions. They are coming right from the barn or attic to you! I do not take the time to clean and polish before I sell - they are in the condition found, as you see in my photos - and I do my best to photo and describe thoroughly.

With postage rates going up and up, I am shipping more items Parcel Post. Please realize that this can mean a 2-3 week delivery, sometimes longer. As a matter of fact, this year, I’m finding the “longer” more the norm. With rates going up, less people are mailing. Parcel Post travels by land or rail and, at least in this area, packages do not leave the regional post office until they fill up a bin going in the same direction (so there’s no estimated exact number of days like you have with Priority Mail). I mail right away so it can get to you as soon as possible.

Also, with the exception of the most heavy items, I will always give both Priority Mail and Parcel Post as shipping options, with Priority being first for my lighter items. Be sure you check out both rates . I will be happy to ship an item in a flat rate Priority mail box, if that is cheaper to you - as long as the item will fit well packed in the box - ask me before you bid if you think that’s the case for you.

INTERNATIONAL AND NON-MAINLAND USA: Shipping costs are available to mainland U.S. only. If outside, please ask me for shipping. Shipping times vary and I’ve experienced up to 8+ weeks for delivery after I have mailed internationally (and longer if it‘s stopped for inspection). Please keep this in mind when bidding. There is no USPS tracking or insurance for items mailed 1^st class international. It’s only offered by USPS for the more expensive priority mail international, which I may require for shipping, depending on the item. I will let you know when you ask me for a shipping quote. Also, import duties, taxes, and country specific charges are not included in the purchase price or the shipping price. All international buyers must pay with Paypal, no other payment types are accepted.
