Hello and welcome to Donny Dixon's Attic!

ITEM: Vintage Two Horse Wooden Evener Doubletree 39"x27"

CONDITION: Good to Fair

The item you are bidding on is a Vintage Two Horse Wooden Evener Doubletree 39"x27". This doubletree was found by my grandparents in 1949 when they bought their farm in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Obviously the doubletree is much older than 1949, but I'm not sure how old. The doubletree was stashed in a hay mow when they found it. They did not use it as they did not farm with horses. The wood is very rustic looking, but it is not broken or weak. The metal hardware on this item is rusted as you can see by the picture.  There are 2 photos in the listing, but there is only one doubletree in this listing.  I took 2 pictures to try to give you 2 different backgrounds to view the item on in case your screen looks better with one or the other.  Because of its size it was a difficult item for taking a good photo. The hooks on the left tree in the picture are not hooks anymore as it apprears they rusted off years ago and are now just metal points. Also as you can see in the photo there is a small white spot on the left tree maybe from white paint that dripped onto the tree at some point. It also appears that at least 1 of the bolts was replaced on the left swivel many years ago because the bolt is longer than those on the right side. However, it blends right in with all of the rusty hardware since it has the same amount of rust as the other pieces of hardware. The wood at the center of the big piece measures approximately 2" x 3.5" and it is designed with a hole in the very center as you can see by the picture. Approximate size of the big center piece is 39" and the two smaller pieces each measure approximately 27". There are no names or identifying markings on this item. This item isn't going to win any beauty contest, but it certainly is a unique item to add to your vintage collection. Please e-mail if you have any questions before bidding.
