Found this vintage violin at a small estate sale. This lovely 1/2 size (body is just over 12 inches) violin is only missing strings, tail piece, fine tuners and a chin rest. The only part that is broken is the top of a tuning peg, it has four pegs total. It has a beautiful bow, an Aubert bridge, and a very unusual trapizoid shaped case. Inside the body of the vioin, these words appear to be on a sticker of some sort: "Antonius Stradiu____s Cremonensis Faciebat AN__17 " and then "23" is hand written. There is another insid sticker that reads "Made in Germany". There is also a symbol; 2 concentric circles with a cross in the center and the letters "A" and "S" inside. The blanks above represent what appears to be a scratch in the paper that makes a couple of letters hard to read. I can email more pictures. I am not an expert, but this violin is very old and beautifully made, certainly worth the minor restoration that would make it sing once again. Good Luck!!
