Grading: C-10 Mint - Brand New

We are the authorized vendor for Paul Scoles DVDs on EBay.

This is a brand new, never opened DVD.  Vol 1 of Advanced Scenery Techniques.  Created by world famous model railroad photographer and model builder, Paul Scoles.  This is the first of two volumes.

Paul Scoles has written countless articles for the Gazette on making scenery and has finally made a DVD showing how he does it.   And it is great.

The video runs a little over 2 hours and you should really take the time to
really sit back and enjoy watching Paul at work.  I have visited Paul and
his layout in the past but this new DVD gave me a lot of insight into the
planning and concept of Paul's layout as well as his very effective scenery
techniques.

The video opens with a wonderful series of short clips of different portions
of Paul's layout.  This helped to establish the general concept and scenery
style that would be presented in the demonstrations.

Paul's method of presenting the material is done without rushing the work.
He is careful to explain each and every step along the way.

Paul shows his method of rock casting, coloring, and blending natural rock
materials into an effective hillside.  Following the dirt and rocks, Paul
shows us how he makes trees and undergrowth.  He then proceeds to show us
just how to blend these elements for the most realistic effect.

Ballasting track, making dusty roads, building up the scenery around
structures and other segments are also included.

At the end of the video, Paul spends 15 minutes presenting a series of short
clips of his layout as the train progresses through the finished scenery.
As we travel along the rails, Paul explains the concept he is presenting,
how the scenery changes according to the local, how he makes the changes,
and other features that gives you a great tour of his layout.

I highly recommend this video for anyone who wants to improve his scenery
techniques.  I found several techniques that Paul uses that made me think,
"Why didn't I think of that?"  And watching his slightly different methods
of doing some of the things I already do gave me some fresh ideas.

I have a section on my layout that features a hillside that I finished years
ago but that I have never been completely satisfied with.  I watched as Paul
treated a similar area using his methods and realized his techniques were
exactly what I needed for that area of my layout.  I will begin working on
re-doing that portion tonight.  And, following Paul's ideas, the work should
be done in a couple evenings.

I enjoyed this video too because it helped me to know Paul a little better
and to appreciate his efforts more.  Paul has a few interesting expressions
he uses such as "holidays".  I never heard of holidays being used in
discussing rocks before.

And finally, I appreciated Paul's video because I also make "how-to-do-it"
videos.  And this is certainly one I would proudly put my name on if it had
been me doing the work instead of Paul.

You will really enjoy this great video from one of the master scenery builders.
