Vintage Floragold Irridescent Water Pitcher, 1950s Jeannette
Up for auction is a vintage Jeannette Co. water pitcher from the 1950s. It is called Floragold and was copied from the original Westmoreland pattern named Louisa. Westmoreland Glass made Louisa in Carnival glass originally. The pattern was a delicate and embossed floral pattern with delicate trailing vines and leaves. The blossom looks like hanging fuschia. Fenton had a similar pattern which was quite costly but so did Dugan and Imperial.
The Jeannette Glass Co. bought the molds from Westmoreland and created "Floragold" which was one of Jeannette’s most extensive patterns. It had a Depression glass look with its mold-etched flower design. Actually, the dealer that we purchased this pitcher from falsely represented the pitcher as Carnival Glass. Helpful and honest ebayers helped us identify this properly as a piece of Floragold. We loved the hanging fuschia look and fell in love with the iridescent sheen. Evidently, Jeannette produced Floragold in a multitude of shapes from complete dinner sets to serving pieces and even shakers.
The pitcher is in excellent condition without chip, crack or any loss of color. It measures 9 1/2" tall to the tallest point and 5 1/2" in diameter at the top. Color is a marigold with an irridescent sheen.
We are starting the bid far lower than what our purchase price was. This is a stunning piece. We usually do not require the bidder to purchase insurance but on this piece we must. We pack very carefully (see our feedback) but because of recent problems with USPS and UPS shipping, we can no longer refund money for damage during shipping.
