It is a privilege to present this delightful W&R Carlton Ware Tobacco Jar & Lid hand decorated with “Basket of Flowers” pattern. It is hand decorated gilding and enamel over a mottled navy ground.

 

 

It has the back stamped W&R makers mark of the style that was discontinued in 1927. It is pattern number 2184, it has a production window between 1917 and 1921.

  • Dimensions

This impressive jar strides in at 12.5 cm (5”) tall to the top of the locking mechanism on the cover and it has a diameter of measures 11 cm (4.4”).

 

 

 

  • Condition

It is in EXCELLENT condition; there are no chips, cracks, stains or repairs and NO crazing. There is just a HINT of wear to the gilded rim strip – nothing really – I only really mention for complete accuracy. The locking mechanism on the lid still works well and the rubber seal still in place.

 

 

This piece is almost exactly the same as it was when it came out of the factory nigh on 90 years ago. I doubt very much it this has ever been used for anything more strenuous than display.
