KNIFE BLADE:           1/8 inch Thick Full Tang, Hollow Ground, Mirror Polished, Razor Sharp, 440c Stainless Steel Heat Treated to Rockwell Hardness 59.   Overall Knife Length is approx 7.00 inches.   Blade length is approx 3.00 inches.

 

HATCHET BLADE:           1/8 inch Thick Full Tang, Convex Ground, Mirror Polished, Sharpened for Chopping, 440c Stainless Steel Heat Treated to Rockwell Hardness 59.   Overall Hatchet Length is approx 8.75 inches.   Blade length is approx 3.25 inches.

 

HANDLE:           Stabilized, Book Matched, Dovetailed Presentation Grade California Buckeye Burl Accented with Nickel Silver Pins and Lanyard Tube.

 

BOLSTERS:       Hidden Pinned, Dovetailed Nickel Silver Accented with Reconstituted Turquoise Spacers.

 

This knife comes with a handmade, antiqued finished leather sheath.

 

All my knives are handmade by me in my shop using what is called the free hand stock removal method.   This means that I grind my blades free hand without jigs or fixtures; they are not premade blade blanks.   Everything is done freehand from cutting out the blades, hand grinding them, heat treating, fitting the handles to making the mosaic pins that I embellish the handles with.   I don’t use any milling machines or lathes but hand make and fit all the components that go into every one of my knives.

 

I have been making knives since 1994 when R. D. Nolen walked into my Body Shop to have his Suburban repaired.   Since that time it has been a hobby until 2004 when I went to making knives full time.  

 

I am a proud member of the PKA (Professional Knifemakers Association) and was very honored in 2005 to receive the PKA’s “BEST NEW KNIFEMAKER for 2005” award.   Again in 2006 I was honored to receive the PKA’s “BEST KITCHEN CUTLERY SET for 2006” award.  This last year I was excited and honored to have received the PKA’s “BEST ART/FANTASY KNIFE for 2007” award.

Waite Knives are guaranteed against defects in workmanship and materials for the lifetime of the original purchaser.   I cannot guarantee handle material against cracking, shrinking, etc. due to temperature and humidity variations or aging.  (Please note that almost all handle material that I use has been stabilized which all but eliminates these problems.)   If a knife has been neglected or misused as determined by Waite Knives, this warranty will be void.
