A selection of quotes about flowers, taken from Shakespeare's plays are gloriously depicted by Walter Crane ( 1845 - 1915 ) a British illustrator who's imaginative creations for children's books were of a standard never seen before.

The rarest of his four titles featuring anthropomorphic flowers. Beautifully decorated & illustrated throughout in Art Nouveau style. 

 

"He sought a design , an orderly spacing , a pattern of

 graphic forms that would adorn the story to be illustrated." 

 

Cloth spine, pictorial paper covered boards ; French Fold Pages

26 cm x 18 cm : unpaginated

Condition :

Covers a little edge worn . Spotting to extreme page edges ( ie shows when book is closed ) and to first and last few pages only .  90% of pages clean . Pages uncut as called for . Ex Libris sticker to front endpaper .
