Painted three weeks on Turkey Hill Road in Red Hook, NY. Obviously one of the main attractions for me in this painting was the gorgeous display of fall colors with the red to blue-violet hue of the distant mountain acting as the perfect foil to the foreground colors. Aside from this, the sky was also fascinating; one could see into great depths for miles and there was a beautiful hazy violet tone unifying the disparate colors of sky and cloud.
