Watain has been making quite a buzz in the extreme metal underground for quite some time now and they seem to continue adding to their reputation this year by releasing their first album since 2003's "Casus Luciferi" and being added to the Kreator / Celtic Frost tour. Band leader Erik Danielsson has also made his name known by being interviewed by no other than MTV about the satanic band's blood drenched live performances as well as lending his skills to Dissection's final shows. Being one of the skeptics regarding the "Reinkaos" album I must say that "Sworn To The Dark" might be what many Dissection fans wanted the reunion album to sound like. It is a brutal riff assault dressed in a solid production straight out of the blasphemous Necromorbus Studio that sounds like a mix of classic Dissection and certain aspects of the more modern side to Darkthrone (especially the Motörhead drenched black 'n' roll opener).  It's nice to find a black metal drummer who is interested in producing more than simply machine gunning blast beats.  -Vincent Eldefors
