WESTERN GREBE AT THE BOSQUE DEL APACHE, NM
These grebes fascinate me. They float along seemingly unimpressed with the world, then suddenly dive only to resurface yards away, usually swallowing some unsuspecting fish.
At the Bosque, they seem almost unreal against the bright golden reeds in the late fall. I wish I could watch them all day long.

This guy (gal?) was painted from photos I took during an early morning walk out on the boardwalk. I used the pond water for the painting, it just seemed appropriate.

The painting is done in watercolor on 140lb smooth Arches watercolor block.
The size is 9" x 12" and I will ship it flat...
