Hey Guys, Thanks for stoppin' by.

This page is to give you the opportunity to buy a set of UM2's new in the box and save a chunk of money.

Freq City Sound just purchased another huge lot of UM2's. This gave as a price break that no other dealer has yet to take advantage. With our buying deal we can pass along a serious savings.

You'll be helping me out (I have a room full of these things) and I'm going to help you out.

$299 is the lowest the UM2 can be advertised. Email me at mike@freqcitysound.com and I will shoot you back a screamin' price. We can set up a quick buy it now through eBay and you're on your way to owning the best dual driver buds on the market.

The set comes sealed from Westone with full warranty (send in the enclosed card and get an extra year for two years total warranty). Included is Free Shipping to anywhere in the world, 2 pairs of short tips, two pairs of long tips, a clam shell carry case and a wax cleaning tool.

You may purchase clear or black (specify in your paypal notes) UM2s from this $299 page and I will ship Express Mail to anywhere in the world (fast, and trackable). Please include your phone number.

My cell is 513-375-3302 If I'm awake - it's on (Rock 'n Roll's not an 8 to 5). A bit about who's talking here: I’ve run monitors for Marshall Tucker, Larry Carlton, The Lettermen, Don McLean and Chris Cagle. Recent clients include Lou Gramm, Survivor, Styx, Kansas and Asia FREQ CITY SOUND CLIENTS.

I have rigs ranging from 12 send 12 – bi-amped 15”X2” wedges capable of mega volume levels (not counting the side fill stacks and drum monitor) to 12 send ear rigs using Shure 600, MIPRO 808's and Sennheiser 300IEMG2 In Ear Systems. I'm also a musician/singer and have performed with all types of wedges and all the Shure ear products. I'm a live sound touring sound guy that works with monitors all the time.  I'm a live sound specialist. When you purchase from Freq City Sound & Lighting you get my cell number and me as a consultant. We carry most pro audio lines (not guitars, flutes and music store stuff though).

The name Westone came up a couple different times when I asked national touring acts about their custom ear molds. Westone has been involved in the ear mold business for around 50 years. In talking with the Westone technical team I learned that Westone created and provided ear monitors to the major company that market and sell to us. The main company you think of when talking ears (hint E1 E2 E3 E5) opted to send their manufacturing process to Mexico to get it done cheaper.  Westone was now free to improve the monitors to their spec hence the better freq response, shape, weight etc. Westone in ear monitors are still made in the USA.

The first thing I did after opening the box was to plug my UM2’s into my old Shure E5 channel. My next move was to clamp my hands to the side of my head like a blue hair at a sound check. I screamed “turn the bass and the kick drum down.” The UM2 has much more warmth and low end than the E5. I’ll word it this way and you’ll get it; the E5 sounds like a bright little speaker. The UM2 sounds like you've added a sub cabinet to your PA. All of a sudden you have a good sounding low end system and the mid-high box that you've been use to. The transition between the lows and highs is seamless.

When I’m setting up monitor wedges for a band that’s real loud, I often have to forget about the sound and go for “how they’ll cut through the mix.” The E5’s were like that. They cut but the sound quality wasn’t there. The UM2 is balanced and smooth. The other night performing, I was able to forget about the singing and get into my movements/steps and interaction with the crowd. It was like the singing took care of itself. I was really excited about the smooth sound of these ears. The bass is the real deal. I'm able to shape the sound of the bass and the kick drum on the console channel strip vs just hearing that it was there. The UM2 never did get nasty bright. It was a warm natural sound.

The Westone’s are lighter and the cable’s lighter they also have a neat taperd foam sleeve. This combination helps to seat the ears and the monitors stay in better. If you’re stationary you’ll never have a problem. My band’s moving around a lot changing clothes etc. We use to have problems keeping the Shure stuff in. Westone’s stay in just fine.

The following are a few of the emails received from Freq City Sound clients regarding their purchase of the Westone UM2 Dual Driver.

Mike, I have listened to several headphones and earphones and these are the cleanest and smoothest earphones I have ever listened to. I have a lot of stereo equipment (Adcom, nakamichi, Fulton music speakers). Your earphones are right up there, timeless quality that will last a lifetime. I also appreciate the fact that I only have to crank up the volume to one half of what I was doing with my B and O earphones. I know that I will have the pleasure of preserving my hearing for a lifetime of musical pleasure. If anyone has a question about them you have my permission to have them contact me so I can let them know what I think and you can publish what you need of this note to let everyone know that there are still great things made in this country and good people selling them. Thanks again, Mark

Mike,I just wanted to provide some real world feedback on the Westone UM2 IEMs.  I am a drummer of 23 years and play mostly contemporary christian music at church these days.  I had been using Shure E2c headphones for about 2 years for both iPod use and stage monitoring and was relatively pleased in the beginning, but after the first year, I really started missing the low end response I got from a full sized set of can headphones; I got tired of hearing my kick sounding like a tin can, the toms sounding thin, etc.  WOW, did the UM2s make a huge difference.  I now hear the full range of sound, including the low end thump from the kick and the fullness of the toms that was missing with the single drivers earphones.  To say that I am pleased is an understatement.  The fit with the comply tips is extremely comfortable and the seal is very good.  For anyone seriously considering entry into the dual driver space, but can't afford the ES2 or ES3 custom molded IEMs, look no further than the UM2.  Please feel free to share this testimony with any potential customers. Regards, Shane Cauley, Drummer and Westone convert!

Mike, Thanks for all your help on our in ear monitor system. A half hour on the phone with my sound guy trouble shooting and on a Sunday night! Working with you and a real sound company over a guitar shop has been a life saver –Thanks a million. Kerry

Me again Mike, This is the 3rd set I've bought from you, Man these things are great.. Thanks for shipping so fast on the others, and for being such a great person to deal with. Steele

Mike, The UM-2s arrived today! Happy day!  I'm listening right now. I doubt I'll take them out of my ears anytime soon. I'm really happy I got these; they have comparable definition to my DT880s -- even without amping --, and are as comfortable as pillows. They're really good with anything from punk and pop to Japanese enka. At times, they're uncommonly revealing. Burn-in (if it applies to canal phones) may yield other surprises. All the best, Steve

Hey there Mike.... I got those westone um2's this morning..... he he he......nice one ....they are great. Just put two vocal tracks down with them to test them out + felt compelled to send you an email to tell you how good i also think they are.
Also to say thanks for the great service. I can't wait to gig with them when i am out next week. Anyhow.. cheers again mike, Regards Neil Bradley

Mike,I received my new Westone UM2's today.  They came with the short tips attached, and I have not tried to change over to the long tips, but the short tips seemed to fit just fine, they popped snugly and securely into my ears (unlike the not-so-Shure E5 pair that I had tried), and they sound great.  In fact, I find that they sound quite nice at the lowest volume that my iPod can deliver, which contrasts considerably with what I've had to do with other headphones.--- Noel

Hi Mike The reason for upgrading from my Sure E3's was that, although I was generally happy with the sound, I wasn't entirely happy with the bass response. As the keyboards / bass player (bass pedals) in a function band, it is of critical importance to me to hear my entire sound.  I had 2 gigs (weddings) this weekend. In order to make an informed comparison, I decided to play the first half of Friday's gig using my E3's, as normal. I swapped them for the UM2's at the break. I made absolutely no changes to my settings. As soon as we started the 2nd half, I had to make a grab for, first the bass volume, then the overall volume. Both had to be reduced considerably. The sound is perfectly clear from the highest trebles to the bass. I am absolutely delighted.Once again, many thanks for all your advice, and for supplying this amazing product. Kind regards Alan Edinburgh Germany

Hey mike, just got the um2's! wow, is all i can say. they sound great, better than i thought an iem could sound! thanks for all your help.  I left positive feedback, you can quote me in one of your ebay listings though if you’d like. thanks again man Steve

Dear Mike, Got the UM-2's you sent. One word: Amazing.

Thanks for your help, Scott Snyder

Just wanted to say thanks for the speedy service and the UM2’s.

I’ve just received them!! Wow!! I’ve only had a chance to plug them into my I-pod but they sound great!! I can’t wait to run them live. It’s gonna be a joy to hear the mix clearly!! As soon as I convince the guys in the band that this is the way to go I’ll be coming to you for another 5 sets!!! I’m gonna get the custom ear pieces made up as well so as soon as I’m ready with that I’ll be in touch.

Hi Mike!! Got the UM2s Friday. Thanks for the quick shipping!! They sound killer. You were SO right about the low end being superior to the E5's. We A/B'd them and all thought they were better all around.
I am sending a few guys your way from here in Georgia that I work with. Hook 'em up if you can!! Thanks again!!  Peace, JON

Happy Holidays, Mike. I'm back for my second and third sets of UM-1s, not to mention the two UM-2s I've gotten from you, also. My friends and family keep getting mp3 players, and nothing adds more value to an IPod than a great set of earbuds. As usual, I look forward to leaving positive feedback when they arrive. Always a pleasure doing business with you. Glad you're still out there selling, and best wishes for the New Year! Ross Waldrop

Mike, I just got your (fast) shipment and wanted to take the time to thank you for your expert help. You responded to everything so quickly and professionally, and you were adept a answering all of my concerns, no matter how small. As for the product, I am thrilled with my UM2s. They work exactly as advertised, and are well worth the (costly) investment. As a drummer, the noise reduction was key to protecting my hearing while still being able to plug into a source and hear the mix, or just practice along to a track. The sound quality is great and the UM2s will replace my Sony noise reduction and my Sennheiser 300s for my flights due to the excellent level of ambient noise elimination. The UM2s are so effective, I listen to my volume at much lower levels, and even then cannot hear any external conversation or general noise. I can just tune out to my music and just focus on what I want to (much to my wife's annoyance). Please feel free to use my mail as a reference for anyone who might be considering working with you, but is still on the fence. Mike is a first rate professional. Do business with him and his company without fear.
Cheers,  Aron S.
