ALL OUR WOOL IS PERFECT FOR PRIMITIVE AND TRADITIONAL WOOL CRAFTS OF ALL KINDS.  This wool can be used for penny rugs, traditional and primitive rug hooking, wool quilts, sewing and many other crafts that need or use wool.

The lanolin we use is Pharmaceutical grade and highly refined.  Read more about it later in our ad.

Rug hooking wool, penny rug wool and craft wool with lanolin re-infused into it resists dust and dirt better.  It is also more water and stain repellent than non treated wool.  The wool is softer and less harsh on your hands and helps protect your hands from drying and chapping as you use it.

ALL THE WOOL IS BRAND NEW OFF THE BOLT ONLY - NO RECLAIMED WOOLS, IN SOLIDS, TWEEDS, PLAIDS, ALL HAND DYED

WHY BUY FROM SHORN SHEEP?
All of our wool is pressed before we take pictures and store for shipping.  The wool looks and acts better for you right when you open our packages of wool.

With each order you get a lavender sachet and a free sample of our hand made hang tags.

We use acid dyes especially for wool and protein fibres and set our colors with citric acid instead of vinegar.  This makes our colors brighter and more vibrant.  Our wool color is full of life and will last a long time in your finished items.

This hand dyed wool is lightly mottled for nice effect.  Matching and coordinating mottled solids AVAILABLE ON REQUEST - WE NO LONGER WILL BE LISTING ALL OUR INVENTORY ON EBAY.
Our lanolin wool wash is completely biodegradable and safe for the environment and all septic systems.  It is made from all natural ingredients and pharmaceutical grade lanolin.  There are no toxins of any kind in the lanolin or wool wash that we use.  The wool wash is made from pharmaceutical grade lanolin. Our wool is a delight to smell and feel!

We do whatever we can to make our sales a wonderful experience for you.  They are many wool sellers out there and we want to stand out in the crowd.  Give us a chance and see how we aim to please.  It takes a lot of hours to iron and press each wool piece before we list it - but the difference is very noticeable when you receive our wool in your post. Lots of love, care and time goes into our wool during it's whole life with us.

We know you are creating great works of art and heirlooms to last a life time.

We want to help however we can.

Our wools are the highest quality and we cut no corners when we dye our wool.

WHAT KIND OF WOOL IS USED?
These are textures, plaids, tweeds and solids overdyed with our stock dyes.  Matching and harmonizing solids are available – ASK US IF YOU DON'T SEE A COLOR YOU ARE NEEDING LISTED. We are cutting back our listings on Ebay as it is just not cost effective for us to list everything we have in stock on the EBAY venue anymore. PLEASE ASK IF THERE IS A COLOR YOU NEED. These sets are new and reclaimed wools - HAND DYED, AND SOAKED IN OUR LANOLIN WOOL WASH. These wools are all the perfect weight for rug hooking and penny rugs.  A nice medium weight with great hand and feel to each wool.  Perfect for rug hooking, penny rugs, appliqué, quilting, sewing and more.  These wools are all what I use in my own rug hooking, so all are suitable. All our wool is already washed, hand dyed and lanolin soaked - ready to use. We steam press all our wool before we photograph it, list it and store it for shipping.

WHAT ABOUT SHIPPING?
WE TRY TO KEEP SHIPPING AS LOW AS POSSIBLE FOR EVERYONE.

HOW ABOUT PAYMENT METHODS?
Ebay only allows us to list paypal as an option in our ads. Please feel free to contact us if you want other choices. We can work something out that works for everyone!

WILL YOU CUT THE WOOL FOR ME FOR RUG HOOKING?

If you need wool stripped, we can cut THIS ORDER FOR $3.50. We can no longer cut wool for free on ebay due to the extreme expense to list and sell our items.

If you are worried about wear on your blades or don't have a cutter for rug hooking, let us cut the wool for you.  We use a Rigby and a Fraser to cut our wool.

We have blade sizes #3 through #10.

Blade numbers and strip widths are as follows:

# 3 = 3/32” wide strip
# 4 = 1/8” wide strip
# 5 = 5/32” wide strip
# 6 = 6/32” wide strip
# 7 = 7/32” wide strip
# 8 = ¼” wide strip
# 8.5 = 5/16” wide strip
# 9 = 3/8” wide strip
#10 = ½” wide strip

Strip sizes #3-#4 are considered as fine or traditional hooking size - you get very fine detailing with these size strips.
#5-#7 are midway sizes and allow some detailing
#8-#8.5 are considered traditional primitive hooking widths
#9-#10 are considered wide hooking

Each cut has it's own nuances and pros and cons - it is perfectly acceptable to use all sizes of cuts in one rug or art piece.  We will be happy to strip bundles in one size or a variety of sizes for each bundle for you for FREE. Just let us know in checkout messages or paypal notes and we will do all the cutting for you.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE?
We have LOADS of wool in STOCK.
We have many colors of wool in solids and tweeds – off the bolt and hand dyed.

Backings like monks cloth and burlap are also some items we carry.

Victorian and Vintage images catch our fancy also, and we make hand made hang tags.

PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF THESE OTHER ITEMS.

We can no longer list our entire inventory on EBAY as it is too expensive for us.

We carry over 56 colors of stock wool and counting.  There are many more colors we have in stock that aren't listed on Ebay. If you are looking for something particular or want more of something not listed - just ask us.  We'll help you out.

WHY USE LANOLIN and WHAT IS LANOLIN WOOL?
All wool has been soaked in pure hospital grade lanolin as the final soak.  This makes the wool soft and conditions the wool to make it hook better and feel better in your hands.

We use a lanolin wool wash called Kookaburra.  It re-infuses the wool with all it's wonderful goodness.  Kookaburra is also offered in our store so you can treat all your wool and make it even more wonderful!

When you dye wool, the lanolin is melted out of it.  After we dye our wool, we soak it in the Kookaburra, which puts the lanolin back in the wool. Wool with lanolin, resists dirt, debris, stains, dust and water.  By soaking our wool, it makes for a much better final product for you.

Once you use our wool, we are sure you will feel, smell and see the difference.  Wool is marvelous and wonderful and a lot of it's greatness is for it's lanolin properties.
