The2FunAdGuyz offer a new print of a vintage Broadway theatrical show poster from the very first musical production of The Wizard of Oz. The Tin Man is the featured character on this poster. This Broadway musical spectacle in three acts opened at The Majestic Theater on January 21, 1903 in New York City. The producer was Fred Hamlin. The book’s author, L Frank Baum, wrote the lyrics and Paul Tierjens and A. Baldwin Sloane wrote the music with additional lyrics by J. Cheever Goodwin and additional music by Frederick Solomon and C. Herbert Kerr. This poster would look charming as a decorating print in a children’s bedroom. HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE: This production concentrated on the Tin Man and The Scarecrow as opposed to the 1930’s movie that centered on Dorothy. It’s elaborate staging and musical numbers made it a smash hit. The production ran over 290 performances and became the longest running production of the first decade of the twentieth century. After its Broadway run it toured the world. It had a large influence on the theater musicals—right up to the present day. This production is still performed by theater groups around the world. DESCRIPTION: The focus of this Wizard of Oz show and the poster was the Tin Man. A glimmering Tin Man in the spotlight was all it took to deliver the message. The simplicity of this design only makes for an even more stunning presentation. This is item is perfect for collectors in scores of areas. Everyone loves this show and you’ll love this poster.
