| Re-live the three greatest Octobers in Cincinnati
sports history! With this amazing compilation DVD, you get Major League
Baseball's official films for the 1975, 1976, and 1990 World Series. From
heroes Virgil Trucks and Hank Greenberg returning from war to lead the
1945 squad, to the remarkable upset pulled off by Mickey Lolich, Denny
McLain, Al Kaline, Willie Horton, and the rest in '68, to Kirk Gibson's
heroics in '84, this is Tigers heroics at its finest - and these films
are absolute classics!
First, it's "Super Series", MLB's official highlight film
for the 1975 World Series between the Reds and the Boston Red Sox. Narrated
by former NBC color commentator Joe Garagiola, it features all the great
moments of one of the most exciting seven-game Fall Classics ever played:
Carl Yastrzemski's headlong diving catch, and Luis Tiant's mastery in Boston's
6-0 Game 1 shutout; Fred Lynn's diving catch, and Cincinnati's ninth-inning
comeback off Bill Lee and Dick Drago that evened the series in Game 2;
Joe Morgan's 10th-inning game-winning hit in Game 3; Tiant's gutsy 163-pitch
complete game victory for Boston in Game 4; Tony Perez' two homers in a
Game 5 Reds victory; three days of rain before the legendary Game 6, when
Bernie Carbo's game-tying homer, Dwight Evans' miraculous 11th inning catch,
and Carlton Fisk's classic 12th-inning body-english Home Run saved the
Red Sox from elimination; and the Reds' comeback from a 3-0 6th-inning
deficit to win the game and the series, thanks to a hanging-slow-curve
from Lee to Tony Perez, a blister that took Lee out of the game, and clutch
hitting from Pete Rose and Morgan in the 9th.
Next, you get the 1976 film, "Red October", celebrating
the Reds' sweep of the New York Yankees to cap an undefeated postseason.
Narrated again by Garagiola, you get up-close-and-personal highlights from
the clinching Championship Series games (Cincinnati's comeback victory
over the Philadelphia Phillies to cap the series in Game 3, and Chris Chambliss'
walk-off series-winning homer against the Kansas City Royals in Game 5),
and all four games of the Fall Classic: Don Gullett's mastery before leaving
with a leg injury in a 5-1 Game 1 Reds victory; Yankees shortstop Fred
Stanley's throwing error with two outs in the 9th that spoiled Catfish
Hunter's brilliant effort and opened the door for a Reds comeback 4-3 victory
in Game 2; the World Series returning to Yankee Stadium for the first time
in 12 years, with The Yankee Clipper Joe DiMaggio throwing out the ceremonial
first pitch before a bumbling 6-2 home loss for New York; and Johnny Bench's
two Home Runs to help complete the sweep with a 7-2 Cincinnati victory
in Game 4.
Finally, it's the 1990 World Series Film. Starting with
a review of the regular-season and Championship Series victories of both
the Reds and A's, it incudes all the great moments of the series from Riverfront
Stadium and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum: Davis' first-inning homer,
and Rijo combining with both "Nasty Boys" (Randy Myers and Rob Dibble)
to deal a 7-0 shutout in Game 1; Joe Oliver delivering victory with a dramatic
10th-inning game-winning double in Game 2; Chris Sabo's two home runs in
the Reds' 8-3 shocker in Oakland in Game 3; and Rijo once again spinning
his magic to close out the A's in a 2-1 Game 4 clinching victory. The highlights
are narrated by broadcaster Pat O'Brien, are punctuated by the CBS broadcast
team of Jack Buck and Tim McCarver, and are enhanced with exclusive interviews
with Rijo, Juan Marichal (Rijo's father-in-law), Lou Piniella, Oliver,
Tom Browning, Marty Brennaman, McCarver, Sabo, Mark McGwire, and Rickey
Henderson.
With exclusive interviews, rare behind-the-scenes documentary
footage, mic'd-up managers, and countless great moments that you haven't
seen in years, this is the ultimate item for any true Reds fan. With action
that also includes old-time stars like Red Sox Rick Burleson, Denny Doyle,
Rico Petrocelli, Reggie Cleveland, Roger Moret, and Rick Wise; Yankees
Thurman Munson, Graig Nettles, Lou Piniella, Willie Randolph, Mickey Rivers,
Roy White, Dock Ellis, and Ed Figueroa; A's Carney Lansford, Dave Stewart,
Dennis Eckersley, Mark McGwire, Jose Canseco, Dave Henderson, Rickey Henderson,
and Willie McGee; and Reds Dave Concepcion, George Foster, Cesar Geronimo,
Ken Griffey, Dan Driessen, Jack Billingham, Pedro Borbon, Clay Carroll,
Pat Darcy, Will McEnaney, Gary Nolan, Fred Norman, Pat Zachry, Todd Benzinger,
Glenn Braggs (see him break his bat on a swing-and-a-miss!), Mariano Duncan,
Billy Hatcher, Barry Larkin, Hal Morris, Paul O'Neill, Danny Jackson, this
is a baseball time capsule that simply must be seen!
