WS HICKS Fountain Pen ~ 14K SOLID GOLD ~ 22+ grams

From My Personal Collection at NO RESERVE is this OUTSTANDING and very Rare, SOLID 14K GOLD, fountain pen from William S Hicks of New York! A very sought after name in vintage pens! William Hicks began business in New York City in 1869, producing mostly quill, or Dip, pens. This SOLID GOLD pen probably dates to the early decades of the 20th century, circa 1910s-1930s. Pen case is signed 14CT, with the WSH logo. Total weight is over 22 grams, current market value in scrap is nearly $400, and that's selling the awesome, huge nib for scrap. This is not an overlay, solid gold cap and barrel ALONE weigh 15.6 grams, without the nib or nib section! This pen is in excellent condition, showing a few small dings or pings, but overall still WAY better than scrap. An AWESOME and RARE early pen!! Screw cap removes smoothly and fits properly on barrel end. HUGE, solid 14K gold nib is EXCELLENT, signed W.S. HICKS - 14K - SONS, flexible tines, Medium-Broad tip, tines aligned, with good, smooth tipping material. Bulb filler has been replaced, feed system has been flushed and tested for leaks. This pen is ready for use, if desired. This pen is rarely seen at market in any condition! Measures 5.3" (135mm) in length closed. A nicer example would be hard to find!
