Major Fredric Arnold was a P-38 Fighter Pilot in World War Two. He recorded 10 CDs, 9 1/2 hours, for this unabridged and limited edition of his best selling book, Doorknob Five Two, a personal account of his combat experience. Now, 86 years old, he is the last remaining survivor of his original P-38 Class of 42J. They started with 14 P-38 fighter pilots and within 6 months, twelve were killed. Arnold was one of two who survived and is the subject of a film documentary, Between Two Worlds, honoring the memory of his lost comrades. He has recorded his book for a oral living history project. Fortunately, his voice hasn't changed over the past 65 years and his recording has the same emotional intensity as his book.
Major Arnold painted the scene on the discs depicting the 1943 invasion of Sicily, reproduced from one of the 10 panels of his mural, The Art of War.
This Audio Book is probably the only book written and recorded
by a WW II fighter pilot.
