USA troops training by riding on fake wooden horses at Camp Jackson, Columbia South Carolina during World War One.  Printed on the picture side of the card is DRILL OIN THE PRANCING PONIES CAMP JACKSON COLUMBIA S.C. When the USA entered WW1 we were woefully unprepared. The soldiers had to make use of fake wooden horses so they could undergo basic training for the cavalry. This card shows this activity.

The card was used by a soldier and has the cancel from the [Camp] Jackson Branch, Columbia S.C.Feb. 17, 1918.

This card is good for both the PICTURE POSTCARD collector as well as the collector of images of World War One, Cavalry, horses, training as well as the military cancel collector.

Condition: This used picture postcard is in pretty good condition considering it is about 90 years old.   Please note, my postcards are very old and have been used and handled by various people. If you collect only absolutely mint postcards do not buy any from me.

I do not know the current value of this card. I do know when I was actively dealing in picture postcards back in the 1970's and 1980's a lcard like this would sell from $10 to $20 and up. I do not know what the current value of this unique, old picture postcard is so I will let the action of the auction determine its selling price.
