This cut-down M1917 Bolo Knife has been modified into some type of fighting knife.  The overall length is now 10 inches with a 6 inch blade.  Not a bad design for a cut-down, but the finish is rather crude.  The crossguard, tang and pommel appear to be untouched.  Traces of the original stamping is still on both sides of the blade on the ricasso area.  The wooden handles are home made and not too well done, poor fitting and the wood looks very dry.  Some rust to the metal parts and light to moderate grinding marks remain on the blade.  There also looks like some old pitting under the polished steel of the blade.  With a little work and some original grips this would look very nice.  Quite a heavy knife and NO SHEATH.
