The2FunAdGuyz offer a new, high-quality reproduction print of one of the famous World War II cartoon posters used to create millions of “Rosie the Riveters”, one of the popular icons ever. The United States Office of War Information produced a whole series of posters using photographs, paintings and cartoon drawings to recruit and motivate the millions of women who were needed to replace the men who were entering the military. This poster features two men talking in front of a machine clearly labeled “Blast Furnace”. On the other side of the conveyor belt a woman in overalls and a hat is checking a pan full of muffins that has emerged from the blast furnace between two large chunks of metal. The text below reads: “Grandma is never absent now that they let her do all her own baking at the plant.” A. Cramer was the artist for this poster. The name “Rosie The Riveter” came from two songwriters, Red Evans and John Jacob Loeb, in early 1943. “Rosie” represented the more than six million women who worked in the manufacturing and munitions industries of World War II. However, the reach has gone even further than this representation. In the 1970s “Rosie” was adopted as a symbol of the emerging economic power of women, who were now returning to work.
