WWII CATALINA PBY-5A 1/72 Airplane Plastic Model

This is a new in box AIRFIX-72, WWII ERA CONSOLIDATED CATALINA MODEL 28 PBY-5A, 1/72 constant scale plastic model airplane kit. Circa pre-1965 all original from series I-163. Includes all parts and markings decals. Has been packed up in storage with my collection since I bought the kits new.

This very rare kit is especially prized due to the widespread use of the "Big Cat" still today.

The Catalina produced in this amphibious version, the PBY-5A, in 1939 and over 3,300 were produced until 1945.  Early actions included sighting of the Bismarck in 1941 and the sinking of no fewer than 196 U-Boats as well as hundreds of aircrews rescued..

Some minor box defornations are easily repaired. (see photos)
