The2FunAdGuyz offer a new high quality reproduction print of one of the famous World War II poster that helped to create millions of “Rosie the Riveters”, one of the most popular icons ever. The United States Office of War Information produced a whole series of posters using photographs and cartoon drawings to recruit and motivate the millions of women who were needed to replace the men who were entering the military. The poster features a woman working in an airplane factory, hair covered by a knit hat. The headline reads: “The More Women at Work the Sooner We Win.” The text box at the bottom reads: “ Women Are Needed Also As: Farm Workers, Waitresses, Timekeepers, Laundresses, Typists, Bus Drivers, Elevator Operators, Teachers, Salespeople, Taxi Drivers, Messengers, Conductors –and in hundreds of other war jobs! See Your Local U.S. Employment Service.” Alfred T. Palmer was the photographer for this poster. The name “Rosie The Riveter” came from two songwriters, Red Evans and John Jacob Loeb, in early 1943. “Rosie” represented the more than six million women who worked in the manufacturing and munitions industries of World War II. However, the reach has gone even further than this representation. In the 1970s “Rosie” was adopted as a symbol of the emerging economic power of women, who were now returning to work.
