FINE 7" GROOVED BLADE , STILLE RETAINING AT RICASSO THE INSPECTOR'S STAMP MARKS ( "S" WITH A STAR ) OF COL.Charles SCHMITT AT COULAUX , TOWARD 1835 . THERE ARE ANOTHER STAMP THAT COULD BE CROWNED " D " INSPECTOR'S MARKS OF COULAUX , KLINGENTHAL BETWEEN 1840/1855.... AND ALSO A MARKINGS AT RICASSO ON OTHER SIDE , BUT UNREADABLE . SOME SHARPENING TRACES BUT NO NICKS , FLAWS OR RUST .

SOME LACK OF BLACK PAINTING ON ALU HANDLE

POMMEL IS MADE OF SOLID BRASS , AS WELL AS GUARD , WHICH HAS A "S" ENGRAVED .

NO SCABBARD SORRY . PERHAPS A RESISTANT WARFARE HOME MADE KNIFE , BUT IN ANY CASE VERY WELL DONE , STRONG , AND NO LOOSE AT ALL . STAND FIRMLY IN HAND . COULD SAW USE IN WWII AS WELL AS COLONIAL WARS .
